Russian River Utility (RRU) is a water and sewer management company incorporated in the State of California in April 1983. The Russian River Utility Company owns one private water company. The water rates for this private system (Sereno del Mar) are overseen by the California Public Utilities Commission.

RRU provides both water treatment and distribution services and also wastewater treatment and water reclamation services. RRU also provides normal maintenance, monitoring, and preparation of reports for State and County requirements. Over 3,400 meters are read for 10 water systems, and bills are processed for 7 systems.

The operation staff is available on 24-hour notice. Emergency alarms are received via a personal pager activated by both the central computer and/or by the answering service.

The staff provides vacation relief, construction assistance, and meter reading for the adjacent Forestville Water District.
